The Privacy Policy
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains what information ClearSky Financial Solutions collects through clearskyfinancial.net, how we use it, and the choices you have. It covers our public Site tools — the Find Your ClearSky Plan quiz, the tax referral and intake form, and the Financial Clarity Call booking page — and how that information differs from the sensitive financial and tax data we handle only after you become a client, through our secure client portal.
2. Information We Collect
Depending on how you use the Site, we may collect:
-
Contact information you provide, such as your name, email address, and phone number
-
Your quiz answers from the Find Your ClearSky Plan tool (bookkeeping status, business complexity, support needs, business stage, and an optional “what brought you here today” answer)
-
Your answers on the tax referral and intake form, including your general tax situation (for example: income type, dependents, filing status flags, whether you rent property or have investment activity), tax year needed, preferred contact method, and referral information (who referred you and their contact info, if known)
-
Payment-interest preferences (for example, whether you’re interested in paying directly or requesting pay-through-refund) — not actual payment or bank details
-
Technical and usage information, such as pages visited, general location (city/region level), device/browser type, and referral source, including UTM campaign parameters if you arrived from a tracked link or QR code
-
Information you provide if you request your quiz results by email, including your first name and email address
3. What We Intentionally Do Not Collect Here
Our public forms are built to avoid sensitive data entirely. We do not ask for and you should not submit, through any public form on this Site:
-
Social Security numbers or other government ID numbers
-
Full dates of birth
-
Bank account or routing numbers
-
Copies of IDs, W-2s, 1099s, or other tax documents
If any of this information is submitted anyway (for example, typed into an open text field), we will disregard it for any purpose beyond responding to your inquiry and will not retain it longer than necessary to flag it back to you and ask you to resubmit through the secure portal instead.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the information above to:
-
Respond to your inquiry and follow up about a recommended plan, tax return estimate, or booking
-
Confirm a referral and track referral rewards
-
Prepare for your Financial Clarity Call so we already understand your situation
-
Send you your quiz results by email, if you asked us to
-
Send occasional ClearSky financial insights by email, only if you opted in, with the ability to unsubscribe at any time
-
Understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it (aggregated analytics, not used to identify you individually to third parties)
-
Meet our own legal, accounting, and recordkeeping obligations
5. Email Communications
If you request your quiz results or opt in to ClearSky email updates, we use Kit (ConvertKit) to manage and send that email. You will always be able to unsubscribe using the link in any email we send. We do not add you to marketing email unless you’ve affirmatively opted in through a checkbox on the Site.
6. Third-Party Service Providers
We rely on trusted third-party services to run the Site and, once you’re a client, to deliver our accounting services. These may include:
-
QuickBooks (Intuit) — bookkeeping and accounting software used to deliver client services
-
Fathom — financial reporting and dashboard software used for Growth Operations and Fractional CFO Advisory clients
-
Kit (ConvertKit) — email delivery for quiz results and opt-in newsletter communications
-
A scheduling/booking tool for the Financial Clarity Call
-
Website hosting and analytics providers (for example, Google Analytics), which may use cookies as described below
These providers process information on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own independent marketing purposes. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
7. Cookies & Analytics
Like most websites, clearskyfinancial.net may use cookies or similar technologies to remember basic preferences, keep the quiz working smoothly as you move between questions, and understand overall site traffic through analytics tools. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings; some parts of the Site (like quiz progress) may not function as smoothly with cookies disabled.
8. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information:
-
With the third-party service providers described above, solely to operate the Site and deliver services
-
With your referrer, limited to confirming that a referral reward is owed — we do not share your quiz answers or tax details with the person who referred you
-
If required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of ClearSky or others
-
In connection with a business transition (such as a sale or merger), in which case this policy would continue to apply to your information unless you’re notified otherwise
9. Data Security
We take reasonable steps to protect information submitted through the Site. However, no public form or website transmission is 100% secure. That’s exactly why sensitive tax documents and identifying financial information are never collected on the public Site — they are only ever exchanged through our secure client portal after an engagement letter is signed, and that portal has its own security safeguards separate from this website.
10. Data Retention
We retain quiz responses, intake form submissions, and related lead information for as long as reasonably necessary to follow up with you, track referral rewards, and meet our own business recordkeeping needs, after which it may be deleted or anonymized. Client records tied to an actual engagement are retained according to standard accounting and tax recordkeeping requirements, which are typically longer and governed by our client engagement terms rather than this Site policy.
11. Your Choices & Rights
You can ask us, at any time, to:
-
Tell you what information we have collected about you through the Site
-
Correct inaccurate information
-
Delete your Site-related information, where we’re not otherwise required to keep it (for example, active client records)
-
Unsubscribe from any marketing email
To make any of these requests, contact us at info@clearskyfinancial.net. [If you serve residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, or other states with specific consumer privacy laws, add the state-specific disclosures and rights required there — your attorney can confirm which apply based on your client base.]
12. Children’s Privacy
This Site is intended for business owners and adults seeking financial and tax services. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13, and the Site is not directed at children.
13. Client Documents Are Handled Separately
Once you engage ClearSky as a client, sensitive documents (tax forms, financial statements, bank records, etc.) are exchanged only through our secure client portal, governed by the portal provider’s own security practices and by your signed engagement letter — not by this public website Privacy Policy.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
